The latest situation in Tokyo remains quite severe, however, and this virus is still not under control.
We are now in the important stage of preventing a rebound to protect the lives and health of not only ourselves, but our families and those dear to us.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will put special emphasis on strengthening three areas.
First is conducting more PCR tests at facilities for the elderly and at medical institutions.
Second is building up a system to detect variants.
And third is securing even more hospital beds and reinforcing the health care provision system.
I would like all the people and businesses of Tokyo to provide your ongoing cooperation in matters such as refraining from non-essential outings,
following rules for dining, and working remotely to all possible extent.
Let us unite and do everything in our power to prevent a rebound from occurring.
