Tokyo is now implementing Priority Preventive Measures as the Omicron variant spreads at a speed never before seen.

We are reinforcing the health care delivery system. This includes securing hospital beds, increasing designated hotels for recovery, and making more house calls to those recovering at home.

We are advancing initiatives to provide our citizens with the weapons needed to fight the Omicron variant. There are three of them: booster shots, oral drugs, and antibody treatment.

I ask the people of Tokyo to please refrain from going to crowded places or behaving in ways that have a high risk of infection.

If you are concerned that you might be infected, please get tested. And if you have symptoms such as a fever or sore throat, please see a doctor as soon as possible.

The Omicron variant is a formidable enemy.
We must stop the virus, but keep society going. This will only be possible if each one of us is strongly aware of the need to prevent infection and acts accordingly.

We must do all that we can, and do it now.
